From series products to customised product development

At REO, you will find standard products, modified products, and products specially designed for your application. Except by the laws of physics, there are no limits to our creativity. We cannot change the laws of physics, but our creativity is limitless. The first step towards a suitable REO product is an enquiry, for example, via the product finder on our website or via our contact form. Technical background knowledge isn’t necessary; just let us know about your project or requirements.

Does one of the standard products fit?

We will find the best solution for you, considering your components’ electrical, mechanical and environmental requirements. As a customer, you benefit from our experience in various applications when purchasing standard products. Railway technology is a good example: Many standard products have undergone and passed extensive tests. Based on our experience, we will check which product can be used with which configuration. Which tests are necessary and omitted depends on the product and the project and can be discussed with your REO expert. Transferring standard products from one application area to another is also possible in principle and sometimes without changes. For example, you can also benefit from the high protection classes or compact product dimensions in railway technology and other areas.

Modified standard products

However, if a standard version from the REO product catalogue does not fully meet your requirements, there is often the option of modification. The REO product experts will therefore work with you to check whether there are already products in the REO range that can be used as a standard product in a modified form to meet the new requirements. Modifications and simulations can be used to check how the component can be adapted to the new conditions. Drawing on REO’s experience and interpolating the new values saves development time and project costs.

INDIVIDUAL SOLUTIONS

REO is particularly at home in the development and production of special niche solutions. If no suitable series products are found after analyzing your product requirements, REO develops the desired product together with you. Our development focuses on optimal solutions for your specific electrical, mechanical, and environmental requirements. Using digital simulations, the components are subjected to virtual test series even before the first prototype is built. In the interest of an optimal cost-benefit ratio, suitable technologies and components with optimal material use can thus be determined. The topics of digitalization, IIoT, and Industry 4.0 also bring challenges regarding the production processes of the future, and here too, REO develops hardware and software solutions tailored to customer needs together with the client.

Practical example from the field of inductivity: Edge Winding

The Edge-Winding technology is a good example of an individual development from REO. The principle originated from the REO development team, which continuously researches the latest technologies intensively and always thinks in new ways. Together with the customer, REO recognized the opportunity of the new winding technique and made it possible for small and large series productions. In practice, this means fast delivery times and an outstanding product feature: The cooling property is particularly impressive, which allows alternative materials due to the single-layer structure and makes insulating material almost superfluous. On one hand, the dimensions and weight are reduced, on the other hand, the lifespan increases, and the range of applications is larger than with conventional winding techniques.

Practical example from the field of electronics: IIOT

Digital technologies and processes enable completely new approaches in production and services. With the progressive change in industry, the demands on production and communication are increasing in terms of scalability and interoperability. To master the challenges of Industry 4.0 and IIOT, REO develops and tests the production processes of the future with its own developers. REO is therefore able to offer hardware and software solutions developed specifically for customer requirements.
