EDGE-WINDING

Advancing Cooling and Efficiency

With the introduction of the next-generation N CNW reactor and filter series, REO pushes the boundaries of EDGE winding technology. This innovation offers increased effectiveness and reduced weight, providing superior cooling through a single-layer design—especially beneficial when forced cooling is used.

The advanced cooling technology allows for the use of aluminum conductors instead of copper, which, combined with automated production, significantly reduces manufacturing costs.

This technology also lowers weight and component size, while minimizing skin and proximity losses. The EDGE winding is perfect for new semiconductor materials like silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN), and its reduced winding capacitance enables high-frequency operation.

The near-elimination of insulating materials enhances component lifespan.

We have recognized the opportunity of the new winding technology and since 2020 have been able to produce in small or large series and offer our customers extremely fast delivery times. What particularly excites me about the N CNW series is the cooling property, which enables alternative materials to be used thanks to the single-layer structure and makes insulating material almost superfluous. On the one hand, the dimensions and weight are reduced, on the other hand, the service life increases and the range of applications is wider than with conventional winding techniques.”
