The Vibratory Feeding and Power Electronics Division of REO AG in Solingen is a participant in the research project KIbaroP, AI-based robust production planning, of the FIR at RWTH Aachen University. In this project, an AI-based approach to production planning is to be developed with special consideration of the specific challenges of small and medium-sized enterprises. The goal is to reduce the impact of disruptions in order to increase productivity and thus also delivery reliability and customer satisfaction. In addition to the Institute of Machine Tools and Industrial Management (iwb) of the TUM School of Engineering and Design at the Technical University of Munich, the project participants are eleven other companies and institutes.
Recently, the project committee met for the first time in Aachen, in which REO AG, represented by the board member Jörg Rohden and the purchasing manager of REO AG, also participated. Mr. Jan Joppien (FIR at RWTH Aachen University) and Mr. Julian Stang (iwb at TUM) presented the results of the expert interviews that were conducted with the project participants beforehand. We then discussed ways to detect disruptions using company data. Next, a general simulation model will be set up, with the help of which an AI will be trained using company data.
